HOMER, LA: Sandra McElwee Causey died October 3, 2018. She was born in Haynesville, Louisiana, January 1, 1943. Her parents were William Tandy McElwee, Jr. and Beverly Williams McElwee. She graduated from Haynesville High School and received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from the University of Mississippi and 30 graduate hours in English from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Sandra taught English at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Southern Arkansas University, and Southern University in Baton Rouge.Sandra and her husband, Ronald, lived in Baton Rouge for many years where they raised their two children, Tandy and Greg. When she and Ron moved to family property at St. John Ranch in Claiborne Parish in the 1990's, they took great pride in their guest ranch and horsemanship camp. Sandra loved to ride horses and took a lot of pleasure in raising American Saddlebred horses.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lee Causey, her son, Gregory Norton Causey, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Tandy Elizabeth Causey.Special thanks to Dr. Scott Haynes, Dr. Mark Haynes, ICU RNs Priscilla, Valerie, and Sandra, as well as the rest of the Claiborne Memorial Medical Center staff.
