Samuel Dewayne Slayter

Samuel Dewayne Slayter, known to many as Sam, was born on July 17, 1961, in Winnfield, Louisiana, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 1, 2026 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Sam was preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl Foshee of Provencal, Louisiana; his stepmother, Rachel Slayter of Jamestown, Louisiana; his maternal grandparents, Elbert and Maureen Foshee of Provencal, Louisiana; and his paternal grandparents, Albert and Irene Slayter of Dry Prong, Louisiana.

He is survived by his father, Ailon Slayter of Minden, Louisiana; his sisters, Cindy Slayter Hightower (Johnny) of Calvin, Louisiana, and Tammie Slayter of Oregon; his brother, Danny Slayter of Haughton, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sam was a devoted son, brother, and friend who loved deeply and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Friends would describe Sam as extremely loyal, always standing by those he cared about. He found joy in helping others and cherished spending time outdoors, fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Sam will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
