Born April 14, 1928 in Gilbert, LA to Samuel Lewis and Mary Agnes Hopkins Richardson, he died on September 19, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. He was preceded in death by his infant twin son, Martin Lynn; his parents; and sisters, Carolyn Smith and Helen Farrington. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Pauline Malmay Richardson of Keithville; twin son, Mark and wife Barbara of Lewisville, TX; twin daughters, Debora and husband Mark Mammarelli of Waskom, TX and Debbie and husband Bert Hayes of Shreveport, LA; his younger brother, Donald K. Richardson and wife Kathleen of Sibley, LA; and many nieces and nephews.
He began working at a very young age cutting fire wood and delivering newspapers. Later he was a movie theater operator. He also attended Northeast Louisiana University briefly before joining the telephone company where he worked for over 40 years before retiring. He fought a brave fight against Alzheimer's for over 15 years, and now he has won the battle! He is free to enjoy all his hobbies again. He loved his spoiled Beagles and kitties, loved to read history, listen to big band music, and travel to interesting places like Honolulu; Seattle; New York City; London; Paris; Vienna; St. Louis; Monterrey, Mexico; Frankfurt; Munich; Manitoba, Canada; Switzerland; and more. He spent hours and hours as an amateur radio operator and "coded" with people all over the world. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix or build around the house. He was a mostly quiet, hard-working man; he loved sitting outside on his swing with his dogs and loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed.
In his memory, donations may be made to his team, Fat Cats, for the Shreveport/Bossier 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer's or to an animal rescue charity of your choice.
Viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2018 with a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Pines. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
