Sadie Dee Long

Sadie Dee Long, age 80, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at the Mansfield Nursing Center surrounded by family and friends.

Mrs. Sadie found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially cooking delicious meals for those she loved, sewing with creativity and care, and spending time dancing and singing. She also had a special love for garage sales, always enjoying the excitement of finding hidden treasure or something special to bring home. Her talents, laughter, and joyful spirit brought warmth to everyone around her, and the memories of these passions will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A funeral mass will begin at 11:00am on Monday, August 17, 2026 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Bethany Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Fairview, Alpha.

A visitation will begin at 4:00pm until 9:00pm on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield. A rosary prayer service will be recited at 6:00pm at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel.

Those left to cherish her memory are her spouse of 40 years, Beverly Thomas (BOT); sons, Mark Long and Russell Long; daughters, Tina (Thomas) Lindsey and Cheryl Long; sisters, Eddie Mae Burr, Lacy “Bee” Averitt, and Barbara Houston. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Danny Garrett, Dakota Parker, Matthew Lindsey, Trevor Garrett, Tristan Thomas, and Dawson Wood. 

Honorary Pallbearers include Joshua Parker, Dillan Garrett, Braxton Wood, Dustin Ezernack, Louis Houston, Cory Parker, Elijah Simmons, Daniel Long, Paul Cowett, Tyler Long, and Dr. Wych T. Coleman, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her son, Eric James Long; parents, James & Eugene Telsa; brother, Charles Telsa; grandson, Richard Post, Jr.; granddaughter, Telsa Parker.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Mansfield Nursing Center and Bristol Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided during this difficult time. Their dedication and loving care will always be remembered and deeply appreciated by the family.
