Ruth Nelda Nelson Wilson

Funeral services for Ruth Nelda Nelson Wilson, 93, will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, 8801 Mansfield Rd. in  Shreveport. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Crosby.

Ruth was born on September 20, 1932 to Linnie Russell Nelson and Vennie Wall Nelson in Pineville, Louisiana, and passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 in Shreveport.

Ruth always said raising her two daughters was the joy of her life although she would say she actually raised one husband, two daughters and three pups.

Ruth enjoyed making homemade grape jelly, strawberry jam and potato bread that she was always sharing with family and friends. Her peach cobbler, coconut cake, and chocolate pie were favorite requests!

Traveling and RVing with Tom and sweet pup, Maggie, were great times for Ruth. She really enjoyed visiting with all the friends they met up with at all the campsites.

Ruth will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor that often had her daughters shaking their heads. Even towards the end, her sense of humor was very evident.

Janice and Sherri both say that their mama was the perfect mama for them without a doubt about how much she loved them. Ruth keeping her faith throughout her life was never questioned. She was a blessing to us all, and now she in blessed to be home with the Lord.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Vennie Nelson; her husband of 67 years, Tom Wilson; her two brothers, Jesse and Linnie; two sisters, Libby and Doris; and brothers and sisters-in-law. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janice M. Wilson, and Sherri W. Klepper; granddaughter, Dr. Emily L. Klepper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
