Ruth Agnes Eason

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Ruth Agnes Eason, 75, will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 11708 Providence Rd. in Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will be in Fort Jesup Cemetery in Fort Jesup Sabine Parish, Louisiana at a later date.  A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Officiating the service will be Pastor Darrell Dean.

Ruth was born on May 25, 1947 to R.T. Leach and Janie Viola Miller Leach in Many, Louisiana and passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

Ruth was a resident of Shreveport and graduated from cosmetology school where she worked as a hairdresser. She enjoyed changing careers and spent time as a sales associate and teacher. She was married for 56 years to the love of her life, Neil Eason. As the matriarch of the family, she loved reading, cooking and caring for her grandchildren. She loved teaching them how to play cards and dominoes as well as playing cards with her sisters. She enjoyed watching her soaps and spending time with family and friends especially lifelong friends, Betty and Lee. Long chats on the phone with her brothers and sisters brought her much pleasure. She loved collecting owls and had over 100 in her collection.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Martha Jo Speight, Lila Jane Winn, and Florence Bush; and brother, Herbert Leach. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Elizabeth Johnston, Leola Moore, and Shirley Ann Harris; brothers, Cade Leach and wife, Dianne and Raymond Leach and wife, Donna; her daughter, Sharon York and husband, Stephen; son, Tim Eason; grandchildren, Tammy Austin and wife, Krista, Tony York, Thomas York and fiancé, Madison Robert, and Tiffany York; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members; and her best buddies, her dogs, Shasta and Calvin.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church or the Shreve Memorial Library to encourage the love of books and reading.
