Ruth Marie Day, 70, of Marksville, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on October 22 2025, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston with her son, Ryan by her side. Born August 26, 1955, to the late Elizabeth Augustine & Willie Ford, Ruth was a faithful member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

A devoted nurse, Ruth cared for both adults and children with skill, patience, and compassion. She loved to cook, dance, and listen to music, and she will be remembered as a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend. When her mother fell ill, Ruth-together with her sister, Anne Blade- served as a loving caregiver.

Ruth embodied unconditional love that was given without asking, lasting without reasoning and growing without limits. She sacrificed without hesitation, forgave with grace that taught the power of understanding and second chances, and caried a quiet strength, even in hardship. She taught her children patience, kindness, and resilience. She was an emotional anchor when the world felt chaotic. She created a home filled with warmth and safety and wore a cape clothed in love, wisdom, and faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Michael Cole and Peter Johnson.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Shannon Gonzales (Tameka) of Marksville, and Ryan Day of Houston, TX; her sister, Anne Blade (James) of Alexandria; five nieces and nephews- Carlos Dominick (Veronica), Victoria Dominick, Michelle Cole, and Clifton M. Dominick (and family); along with a host of grandchildren, cousins, extended family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Marksville (334 Acton Rd. Marksville, LA 71351) has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
