Rufus Franklin "Frankie" Marshall Jr. December 21, 1946 - July 20, 2020 Mansfield, LA - Rufus Franklin "Frankie" Marshall, Jr., 73, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 20, 2020. Funeral Services honoring the life of Rufus will be held at Rose-Neath Mansfield Chapel on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Brad Darner officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Beulah Cemetery in Mansfield, LA. Rufus was a 1965 graduate of Mansfield High School who was drafted into the US Army during Vietnam and awarded the Silver Star for his bravery and exceptional service under fire along with the Purple Heart for the wounds he received while in combat. He was a member of Mansfield Missionary Baptist Church, where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class and led the music during worship services, before his health began to fail. Rufus was also a retired shop foreman from General Electric and later retired from Brown & Root/International Paper after 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Aline Marshall, Sr. and Fred and Marguerite Robinson; brothers, Ray Marshall, Thomas Ray Parker, Troy Parker, Rufus Wayne Marshall; sisters, Joyce Stovall, Ann Shelton and Brenda Smith; grandson, Joel Trevor Whatley. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Mary Jane "Janey" Marshall; sons, Chris and wife, Stacy Marshall of Fairhope, Alabama and Jonathan Marshall and Leslie of Oliver Springs, TN; daughter, Lori and husband, David Whatley of Mansfield, LA; brothers, Solace "Gene" and Iva Marshall of Keithville, LA; sisters, Betty Kyle of Lufkin, Texas, Debbie and CW Mitchell of Mansfield, LA, Linda and Brad Rachal of Keithville, LA; sister-in-laws, Sharon Marshall of Pineville and Hannah Parker of Mansfield, LA; brother in law Ray Smith of Converse, LA; ten grandchildren, Josh, Amber, Ashley, Blake, Angel, Brittany and husband Josh, Nick, Chloe, and Nathan; three great-grandchildren, Corbin, Ryann, and Miller and many other family members and friends. Honoring Rufus as pallbearers will be Danny Puckett, John Morgan, Jeremy Mitchell, Jeffrey Mitchell, Coty Rachal, Todd Rachal, Eric Foshee, and Maylon Foshee. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Joshua Whatley, Blake Whatley, and Nathan Marshall.
