Rev. Rubén Villarreal, 83, a devoted minister of the Gospel and faithful servant of God, entered eternal rest on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025. On the night the Church celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, he stepped into the presence of the Savior he faithfully served throughout his life.
Born in Linares, Nuevo León, Mexico, he was the son of Eduardo Villarreal and Crescencia “Chencha” Escalante Villarreal. Orphaned at a young age and the youngest of four children, he was raised amid hardship—experiences that shaped his resilience, humility, and unwavering faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings: Dolores, Pedro, and Miguel Villarreal.
At eighteen, Rev. Villarreal experienced salvation and answered the call to ministry. He trained at Escuela Bíblica Victoria (1961) and graduated from Instituto Bíblico Emmanuel (1964). His ministry spanned from North America through Central and South America, serving with the Assemblies of God, the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, and later the Full Gospel Missionary Assembly, where he also served as Vice President of the Pentecostal Missionary Assembly. He labored alongside Rev. H. C. Ball of the Assemblies of God, a respected pioneer in Spanish-speaking Pentecostal missions. Rev. Villarreal pastored, evangelized, taught, and mentored faithfully wherever God sent him.
In addition to his ministry, he was a hard-working provider, faithfully employed for many years at Haddady Corporation in Dyer, Indiana, until his retirement. Above all, he was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, affectionately known as “Gpa.”
He is survived by his children: Rev. Dr. John-Michael Villarreal, Cindy Villarreal (preceded in death by her husband, Harley), Daniel Villarreal, and Rebecca Julia Macías; and by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Darin (Loren), Alex, Priscilla, Maison, Landon, Rafael Jeremias, and Noemí Yamilet.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Southern Methodist Church, 300 Old Jefferson Rd. in Stonewall, Louisiana. The service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. John-Michael Villarreal, Presiding Bishop of the Full Gospel Missionary Assembly Inc.
Rev. Rubén Villarreal fought a good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith.
His victory is complete.
