Funeral services for Roger Dale Smith, 75, will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. Raney Johnson.
Roger was born on May 4, 1946 in Derry, Louisiana to James Webster and Florentine Smith and passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 in Cloutierville, Louisiana.
Roger worked in law enforcement, serving for Bossier City Police Department and Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department for many years and security at Willis-Knighton. He also worked at General Motors, Batesville Casket Company, Evangel Christian Academy and for the State of Louisiana as a Fire Marshal Inspector. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, back road riding, listening to country music, grilling, crawfish boils, fishing, family Bourre' games, Super Bowl games when he made his famous red beans and rice and spending time with his family. He was a social butterfly, he never met a stranger. People naturally loved him. He never met a dog he didn't love and vice versa.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David Smith and J.W. Smith, Jr. and brothers-in-law, Ross Brossette and Tom Merrill. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years, Nancy Smith; children, Pam Smith and Russell, Mik Smith and Brandie both of Stonewall, LA, Nichole Stevens and husband, Bryan of Shreveport, LA, Michelle Orr and husband, Jack of Slidell, LA and Jennifer McGee and husband, Robby of Haughton, LA; grandchildren, Lauren Smith and Danny, Stormi Addison and husband, Josh, Bryce Leon and wife, Miranda, Emily Walker and husband, John and Dylan Stevens; great-grandson, Beaux; sisters, Glenda Marie Merrill and Patsy Carter and husband, Tommy; godchildren, Tommy Carter, Amanda Lee and Josh Mason; daughters of the heart, Phyllis Martin and Dana Hillin and his special four legged kid, Beaux.
Honoring Roger as pallbearers will be Jack Orr, Robby McGee, Bryce Leon, Dylan Stevens, John Walker and Bryan Stevens. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Josh Addison and Russell Johnson.
