Robert "Bob" Schleicher

On Saturday, January 28, 2023, Robert "Bob" Daniel Schleicher, beloved husband and father, passed away. He was 69.

Born to Bernard and Nancy Schleicher in Chicago, Illinois, he had a huge family. He was the second oldest of seven siblings. Bob graduated from the Crystal Lake High School and began traveling the country for work opportunities. After settling in Louisiana, he met his wife, Laura Dunlop. They were together for 44 years.

Bob was a machinist by trade, employed at various machine shops over the years. He loved his profession like a hobby. He had a passion for working on parts using his very own lathe in the garage. He also enjoyed fishing, working on cars, going to the beach, and barbequing. He was known as a fun-loving, loyal friend, and the very best father. He always participated in helping with math and science homework, even when he did not always know the material himself. He once helped his son shatter glass using sound waves to prepare for a science fair. However, the project was quickly and hilariously abandoned due to its ambition.  He always supported his family when it mattered most, attending graduations, award ceremonies, and paying for college. He loved hosting annual Halloween and Christmas Eve parties, where all were welcome. He even constructed a haunted house and reindeer from cut logs for the occasion! Bob will be remembered as a dedicated husband, loving father, and believer in God. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard and Bernard, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Laura; son, Robbie; sisters, Nancy Wajrowski, Marjorie Shultz, Marie Schleicher, Judy Hack; and sister-in-law, Ellen Belote; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service announced at a later date.
