Robert Kerry, 89, of Grand Cane, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025. He was born on September 18, 1935, in Bayou Crype, Louisiana, to the late Thad and Melissa Vallery Kerry.
A graduate of Gorum High School, Robert went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960. He was a proud Atomic Veteran and a recipient of the Atomic Veterans Service Medal, recognizing his dedicated military service during a historic era.
In 1958, Robert married the love of his life, Nela Kerry, and together they built a strong and loving family. Robert worked for 28 years at Borden’s Milk Company, where he was known for his tireless work ethic and dedication. He was often described as "the hardest working man we knew" by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Robert is preceded in death by his daughters, Kelly Kerry, Gwendolyn Kerry, and Kimberly Kerry Gilcrease, as well as his parents, Thad and Melissa Vallery Kerry.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nela Kerry; sons, Kenneth Kerry and wife Sylvia, Troy Kerry and wife Fran, and daughter Michelle Kerry Lindley and husband Clint. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and joy in his life.
Honorary pallbearers are Steven Kerry, Joshua Kerry, Connor Kerry, Thad Lindley, and David Lindley. The service will be officiated by Steven Kerry and Kenneth Kerry.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM at the Rose Neath Funeral Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
Robert will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his strength, his service to his country, and his deep love for his family.
