Bob Moseley went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the age of 102. Bob was born in Jefferson, Tx. on January 1, 1917 to Lillian Arnold Moseley and John Louis Moseley. As a child, he watched as the brick streets were laid in Jefferson from his Dad's 2nd floor dentist office.
He served his country in the Coast Guard and was stationed in Brunswick, Ga. during World War II. While there, he met and married his \"Georgia Peach\", Mozelle Leonard. After the war they moved to Vivian and Bob returned to Arkla Gas where he worked for 39 years, retiring in 1979.
Bob has been a member of the Vivian United Methodist Church since 1945 and served as Sunday School superintendent, usher and charter member of the Methodist Men's Club. He was active in the Vivian Kiwanis Club and served as Secretary and Club President in 1966. Bob was recently recognized for 72 years of continuous membership in the 40 & 8 Club in Shreveport serving as Chef de Train 2. He was also an active member of the Bowen Holland American Legion Post in Vivian for over 72 years serving as their Post Commander. Most importantly, Bob was a Christian who practiced his faith daily. He witnessed many changes in this world but remained a sweet, kind and gentle man who was well respected by family and friends.
He was affectionately known as Mr. Bob by fellow church members, Rob by family and "Papaw" by his granddaughter, Gentry.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnold Louis Moseley and J. L. Moseley, Jr.; sisters Elizabeth Benningfield and Amy Willbanks. Also preceded in death by the love of his life, Mozelle, whom he shared 62 years of marriage with until her death in 2006.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Carolyn Carroll; son-in-law, Joe; granddaughter, Gentry Camille Carroll and special "next-door-neighbor-daughter", Lucy Jane Burr. Also nieces and nephews in OK, TX and NM and Mozelle's family in Georgia.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 12-1:30pm at the Vivian United Methodist Church with the funeral service immediately following at 1:30. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Sheri Zehner, Rev. Wishy Nolan and Rev. Nick Wolfe. Serving as pallbearers will be: Buddy Bauer, David Byerley, Eddie Case, Glen Emerson, Ronny Hall and Buddy Wilson. Honorary pallbearers: Ken Morris, Dick Rein and Jimmy Woods.
Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Jefferson, Tx. following the service.
