Robert P. “Bobby” Brumley, 80, of Converse, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026. Born January 18, 1946, he was the son of the late Cecil and Marian Brumley.
Bobby spent a lifetime in service to his community. A graduate of the police academy, he served as both Chief of Police and Fire Chief for the Village of Converse. He later joined the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office, dedicating 26 years as deputy, detective, and ultimately rising to rank of Chief Criminal Deputy managing all operations for the department. After retiring, he served as an elected Justice of the Peace in Sabine Parish for over a decade with fairness, common sense, and a steady hand until his passing.
A Converse Wildcat at heart, Bobby carried deep pride in his hometown roots. He was a devoted New Orleans Saints fan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and ranching—activities that kept him connected to the land and people he loved. In retirement, Bobby turned to breeding championship-caliber Quarter Horses, a hobby he deeply enjoyed.
He shared 59 years of marriage with his wife, Sherry. Bobby is survived by Sherry; his children Chris Brumley (Kristy), Chantel Norman, and Cade Brumley (Toni); his brother Harold Brumley (Pat); his sister Beverly Hanberry (Gary); his grandchildren Harley Moellman (Josh), Paige Sepulvado (Josh), Branson Dickson, Macy Rivers (Nolan), Hunter Brumley, Preston Brumley (Madison), Summer Brumley, Riley Norman, and Braden Brumley; his great-grandchildren Aiden Sepulvado, Teegan Sepulvado, Arthur Moellman, Jack Rivers, and Callum Moellman; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss his quick wit and quiet strength. Bobby loved his grandkids dearly, taking great pride in their academic and athletic accomplishments.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the North Sabine Fire Department first responders, Acadian Ambulance paramedics, and the medical teams at both the Sabine Medical Center and Rapides Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care during his final days. The family also extends heartfelt appreciation to friend Leo Gonzales for his emergency response.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Bobby will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Converse, 211 W Caddo Ave, Converse, Louisiana. Family visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Clara Springs Baptist Encampment, a special place to him that served kids throughout the community.
