A graveside service for Rita Pruett, 94, will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Bayou Scie United Methodist Church, 6400 Hwy. 120 in Zwolle, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Jay Knighton.
Rita was born July 2, 1931 in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana to Sam and Annie Arnold and passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at her home in Pleasant Hill. Although she grew up in Pleasant Hill and kept a home there, she spent most of her life in Shreveport.
Rita was a devoted homemaker, loving wife, and cherished mother. Her most prized possession was the land where she was raised, a place that always held a special place in her heart. She loved working in her yard, tending to the beauty around her home, and enjoyed spending time with her friend searching for treasures at garage sales. She also loved painting pottery.
In Shreveport she did substitute teacher work, school cafeteria work, participated in the PTA, and supported her husband in his music career. She always said, raising her kids in Sunset Acres were the best days of her life! Her kindness, dedication to her family, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Felton Pruett; sons, Randy Pruett, Rod Pruett, and Ryan Pruett.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Reagan Pruett and wife, Jessica; daughter-in-law, Cindy Camus; nephews, Mark Pruett and Gordy Raines; grandchildren, Robby Pruett, Jennifer Pruett, Lilly Pruett, and Shannon Pruett; great-grandchildren, Blake and Blaine Pruett; and great-great-grandchildren, Carson, Cash, and Mallory Pruett.
Honoring Rita as pallbearers will be Mark Pruett, Gordy Raines, Blake Pruett, and Blaine Pruett.
Rita will be terribly missed, but we will always love her and cherish her memory.
