Rita Ponthieux, age 92, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Colonial Nursing Home in Marksville.

Rita cherished many simple pleasures in life. She loved driving to the mall in Alexandria, enjoyed Sunday movie outings and dining at Picadilly with her late husband. Her yard was always adorned with beautiful flower beds, reflecting her love for nature. Rita was a devoted Eucharistic Minister and shared her faith by teaching catechism at Marksville Elementary. She found joy in shopping, playing cards, and trying her luck at slot machines in casinos. Her milk pies were legendary, and she delighted in cooking for her loved ones. Rita and her husband shared a special bond, praying the rosary together morning and night. Now, she is reunited with her beloved husband, and we find comfort in knowing she is at peace.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Donna Lucas (Ray) of Marksville and Laura Poret (Brad) of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Nicole Lucas of Marksville, Steven Lucas of Fifth Ward, Ryan Lucas (Emily) of Marksville, Joe Poret of New Orleans, Tucker Poret of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Alec Belt of Marksville, Gage Bordelon of Marksville, Beau Lucas of Fifth Ward, Abel Lucas of Fifth Ward; great-great grandchildren, Brysen Belt of Marksville and Beckam Belt of Marksville.
