Rita Warren Hapgood Giddens

A memorial service honoring the life of Rita Warren Hapgood Giddens  will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Rose-Neath Minden Chapel, 211 Murrell St., Minden, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother Doug Gregg. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment will take place immediately following the service in Springhill Cemetery in Ringgold, Louisiana.

Rita Warren Hapgood Giddens was born December 7, 1929 in Tacks Beach, Newfoundland, Canada to parents, Malcom and Pearl (Best) Warren and passed away peacefully, Monday, June 27, 2022 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Rita made her home in Minden, Louisiana after marrying her love, Sonny. She had a great love for family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them on their visits.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Needham “Sonny” Marshall Giddens; parents; son-in-law, Fred Adams; brother, Reginald Warren; and sister, Grace Royer.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert Hapgood and wife, Linda, of Placentia, Newfoundland, Bonnie Adams of Gander, Newfoundland, Donald Hapgood and partner, Sharron, of Paradise, Newfoundland, Reginald Hapgood, St. John’s, Newfoundland, Gerald Hapgood and wife, Sarah, of Nain, Labrador, Sandra Hapgood of Kingston, Ontario, Marion Paterson and husband, Dave, of Placentia, Newfoundland, and Shawn Giddens and wife, Christina, of Stonewall, Louisiana; brother, Chefley Warren; sisters, Blanche Graves and Violet Delmadge; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; special family members, John and Sarah Jackson; and special friends from Canada, Bernice and Winston.

The family would like to thank Minden Medical Center for the care they gave Rita and express their eternal gratitude to John and Sarah for all their love and support they gave not only to Rita, but to the whole family as well. We love you and are so blessed to have you as a part of our family.
