Rickey D. Thornton

Funeral services celebrating the life of Rickey D. Thornton will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 11:00a.m. at Pine Grove Methodist Church in Minden, Louisiana with Bro. Leon Boggs officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana.

Rickey was born on June 18, 1957, in Minden, Louisiana to William David Thornton and Wilma Jean Urguhart and passed away on October 25, 2025, in Minden, Louisiana. He was a lifelong resident of Minden.

Rickey was a devoted husband to Sherry. His retirement gave him the opportunity to travel with Sherry and experience sights and places he had never seen.

Rickey worked for Leheigh Hanson, formerly Gifford Hill, where he retired as a foreman after 40 years of service. Rickey was a “go-to guy” for any hands-on project. He could and did build and rebuild houses, engines, and could fix anything broken and solve puzzles of any nature. He was a mechanical genius in his own way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Brenda Sue Talbot, brother, Jerry Wayne Thornton, and his wife Lindy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Thornton, sisters, Karen Walston, Lora Jane Boulet and husband Johnny, and Judy Martin, stepson, Joe Faulkner and wife Angel, sister-in-law, Elaine “Katie” Thornton, brother-in-law, Ronnie Talbot, and nephew, Richard Lile and wife Regina who were a special blessing.

Pallbearers will be Levi Rhodes, Caleb Rhodes, Aaron Rhodes, and Jonathan Rhodes.
