Richard 'Dicky' Williford passed away from cardiac arrest secondary to the flu on January 30, 2019, at the age of 61 years. He was born July 3, 1957 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Thomas Franklin and Ruby Elise Williford.
Richard was a loving husband, father, and Papa and will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Annette McKenzie Williford of 30 years, and three children: Heather McKuhen and husband Jath; Darla Coile and husband Michael; and Dustin Williford. His two grandsons Landon Hudlow and Mac Coile and beloved dog Cami 'the Goon'. He is also survived by his sister cousin, Rose 'Becky' Brocato and brothers from another mother, Jimbo Wilkerson and Mark Wilks. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Elise Williford.
A native of Shreveport, Richard graduated from Southwood High School in 1976. Growing up and through high school Richard spent most of his time racing motocross. He loved it and that love never faded. After graduation he worked at Western Electric and Tri-State Oil Tool before beginning work in the construction supply industry. He worked in the construction supply industry for 20 years before purchasing Morgan Tool & Supply 13 years ago with lifelong friend, Jimbo. Richard thoroughly enjoyed his work and many customers became close friends over the years. He could not start his day without a morning visit with his buddies.
Richard was an incredibly hard working man. He enjoyed building things and always had a project. He could fix anything. If family or friends called with a problem or emergency, he would drop what he was doing to come help.
Richard lived by the motto of 'work hard, play hard.' He enjoyed spending time with his family by attending concerts, motorcycle events, and road trips. He was known for his driving on these trips because to him, it was always a race and he wanted to finish first. Many of his road trips were made to their cabin in Arkansas on the White River which he called God's Country. He spent as much time on the river as he could, both work and play. Happy Valley turned into a home away from home and neighbors became like family. When he was home, he could be found tinkering with some of his vintage motorcycles that he loved to collect. Collecting and showing vintage motorcycles became a hobby in the last 10 years of his life.
Pallbearers will be Landon Hudlow, John Murray, Mike Thompson, Jimbo Wilkerson, Mark Wilks, and Randy Wood. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buster McKenzie, Steve Nezat, Kenny Oliver, and Joe Thompson.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 3 from 2-4 p.m. and funeral service will be Monday, February 4 at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, Shreveport.
The family would like to thank Caddo Fire District 4 for their rapid response and professionalism. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission or Open Range Fellowship.
