Richard Wayne Straughan, was born on December 26, 1961, in Trinity, Texas.  Richard passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the age of 62, and was completely healed and made whole in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Richard was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Richard spent his formative years in Trinity before relocating to Shreveport, Louisiana. It was in Shreveport that Richard met the love of his life, Cretia, and together they shared 37 wonderful years of marriage and raised three sons: Ryan, Cody, & Kyle, making Bossier City, Louisiana their home where he spent the remainder of his life.

Richard had a distinguished career in electrical and data communication sales. Renowned for his ingenuity and problem-solving skills, he was the go-to person for friends and family whenever something needed fixing. Richard was a true handyman, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Beyond his professional achievements, Richard found joy in many hobbies and activities. He cherished time with his family and friends and enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, golfing, and engaging in his fantasy football league. Richard also spent several years as a Boy Scout Leader, sharing his love for the outdoors and mentoring young scouts. A man of faith, Richard loved God and his faith was a cornerstone of his life. Richard’s love for others was a true testament to his love for Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Richard is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Straughan; his father-in-law, Bobbie Lee Andrew, and his grandmother, Ethel Carlton. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cretia Straughan; his sons, Ryan Straughan and wife, Amanda, Cody Straughan, and Kyle Straughan; his granddaughters, Annalyse and Rebecca Straughan; his mother, Carolyn Selman; his mother-in-law, Julie Andrew; his brother, Thomas Straughan and wife, Rhonda; his sister, Gail Straughan and husband, Johnny; his brothers-in-law, Robbie Andrew and wife, Charlene, and Glen Andrew and wife, Brenda; his nieces, Ava and Izzy Straughan, and Alex Andrew; his nephews, Jackson Wheat, and Carson and Chapman Andrew; and many dear friends and loved ones.

The family would like to express special thanks to the caregivers who became like family to us over the past four years.

A visitation with the family will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111.

Richard's legacy of kindness, hard work, and love for life will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be a lasting source of comfort and strength. May he rest in peace.
