Funeral services for Richard Nesbett, 78, will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana., Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Reverend Randy Johnson and Reverend Chris Hough. Richard was born on March 1, 1942 in Jefferson, Texas to William Homer Nesbett and Jessie Scott Nesbett and passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Richard was a resident of Shreveport and worked as a sheet metal mechanic. He loved hunting and his dog, Beau. He was lovingly known as the "Candy Man" as he always had candy for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Homer L. Nesbett. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy L. Nesbett; sons, Kevin Nesbett and Randy Nesbett of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters, Betty DeYoung and Joan Foster of Shreveport, Louisiana, grandchildren, Harlee Malone and husband, Billy Malone, Aaron Nesbett and Adam Nesbett; great-grandchildren, Jacob Malone, Haislee Malone and Liliana Nesbett. Honoring Richard as pallbearers will be William Homer Nesbett, Carl Lindsey, Cedric Robbins, Aaron Nesbett, Adam Nesbett and Billy Malone. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Hays and Caroll Chandler. The family would like to thank Hospice for their care and compassion during Richard's illness. We would also like to thank Dr. Hernandez and Laura Perkins PA; Nurse Julie of Hospice and Brother Randy Johnson and Brother Chris Hough.
