Richard Edwards Hunter August 19, 1940 - November 12, 2017 Richard was born in Houma, La to Richard Henry Hunter (Sam) and Alice Edwards Hunter. The family later moved to Mooringsport, La where he grew up in the small Mayberry like community. He learned early the value of work and according to his recollection he was the \"best most dependable paper boy\" ever to deliver the Times and Journal on time every day no matter the weather. Richard graduated from North Caddo High School, enlisted in the Navy, when honorably discharged after service to his country, graduated from McNeese State University, Lake Charles, LA with a degree in accounting. He returned to Shreveport started his career in accounting obtaining his CPA certification in 1974, practicing continually for 43 years most recently Hunter, Carlisle and Associates. Richard was not only a trusted accountant to his many generations of clients but also a valued friend and confidant. He truly cared about their lives and families. He worked hard with the same dedication to his profession as he gave his first job as the\" Paper Boy\". Richard will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 49 years, June Alford Hunter. Their long and happy life together started with a \"matchmaking\" dinner arranged by his barber, a mutual friend of June\'s parents, thinking they would make a perfect match. After the dinner, listening to the LSU/Alabama game on the radio, 1967, LSU lost 7/6 but June and Richard won a long happy life together, July 6, 1968 filled with many road trips usually taking the road less taken with June\'s navigation, LSU football games, an adventure to Ireland and just ordinary together days. Richard is survived by a brother Henry Hunter (Candy); his Sunday Fried Chicken cook/ sister-in-law, Ann Quarles; Phoebe, Chris, Gracie and his \"little Buddy\" Carson Purvis; his LSU game day friends, Mike Hogan and Gerald Dyess, who suffered thru all losses and triumphant wins together. Forever LSU! Longtime and faithful friends Ponder and Carol Mclnnis and Linda Ferguson, Bill and Teri Hoffman, along with many other friends, clients, and lunch companions, too numerous to list. Richard touched many lives demonstrating his Christian faith thru his actions in his work and daily life. He was an active member of Woodridge Baptist Church everyday not just on Sunday morning. He was in the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. Predeceased by his parents, sister, Kay Arabe and brother-in-law Terry D Quarles Special thanks to Dr. Dan Moller for his compassion and care during this difficult time.
