Richard Calvin Faries

Richard Calvin Faries, born September 9, 1956, in Shreveport, LA, passed away on September 5, 2026 at the age of 69.

Richard was an electrician by trade. He spent many years working in the oilfield, a career that took him all over the world. He also had a talent for rebuilding motors and enjoyed working with his hands throughout his life. When Richard wasn’t working, chances were good you could find him around the water. Throughout his life, he loved boating, water skiing and fishing, and he also enjoyed racing cars and motorcycles. He lived life with a sense of adventure and was never afraid of a little speed. Richard also loved to laugh and was always ready with a joke. He enjoyed making people around him laugh, and those who knew him well probably heard more than a few of his favorites more than once. His sense of humor was simply part of who he was.

More than anything, Richard loved his family. He treasured his time with his children and grandchildren and took pride in each of them. To his children, he was “Daddy”, and to his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Big”. He also loved his dogs and the companionship they brought him over the years.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Emmit C. Faries, and his uncle, Cecil M. Faries. He is survived by his mother, Peggy L. Faries; daughter, Stephanie Faries; son, Richard M. Faries and wife, Katie; sister, Nancy Faries Ross and husband, Dennis; brother, Mark S. Faries, Sr. and wife, Rae; and his former wife, Denise Faries. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Rowan Miller, Layton Clark, Easton Clark, Emmit Faries, Noel Faries, and Jack Faries; as well as his nephews, Tyler Ross (Rhendi), Jeffrey Ross (Areum), and Mark S. Faries, Jr.; and niece Kathryn F. Long (Brandy) and other extended family and friends.
