Graveside services for Richard Trant, 82, will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Jackson Baptist Church Cemetery in Joaquin, Texas. Burial will be in the new cemetery at 11120 State Hwy. 7E. Officiating the service will be Rev. William Valentine, pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church in Shreveport.
Rick was born on June 28, 1939 in Shreveport, Louisiana to William Clyde and Elsie Mae Trant and passed away on Monday, August 22, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Rick was a resident of Shreveport, Louisiana his entire life. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a banker for many years, and then turned his attention to sales, working for Consolidated Benefits and later to Table Top Advertising. Rick's love for the Lord was manifested in his musical talent. He has served as music director at Lakeview Baptist Church on Tacoma Blvd., Shreveport, since 2004 to present.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tommy Trant. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 38 years, Betty; daughter, Kellye Trant; stepsons, Gregg and Sammy Neal; brother, Edward Trant and wife, Judy; Edward's daughter, Wendy Green and her son, Darby; Edward's son, Troy Trant and wife, Laurie and their daughter, Audrey; granddaughters, Amber Linn and husband, Jake, April Barnes and husband, Justin, and Alana Neal; four great-grandsons, Walker and Parker Linn, and Luke and Logan Barnes; special family members, Shirley and David Boyd and Bobbie Yates; along with a host of nieces and nephews. We must not forget his furry friend, Trixie.
Honoring Rick as pallbearers will be Troy Trant, Sammy Neal, Michael Boyd, Chris Mulch, Jake Linn and Jay Lilly. Honorary pallbearer, Gregg Neal.
We wish to express our thanks to our church family at Lakeview for all the prayers and concern shown us during this difficult time. The family also wishes to express thanks to the Willis-Knighton Pierremont staff on sixth floor. They went above and beyond their duties for Rick and for us. It was so much appreciated.
