Richard Alvin Coats, Jr.

Funeral services for Richard Alvin Coats, Jr., 72, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at Apostolic Faith Tabernacle on Youree Dr. with Rev. Curtis Spears officiating and Rev. Franklin Walker and Rev. Todd Andrews assisting. Interment will follow at NW LA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside. Richard was born April 7, 1946 in Rayville, LA to Richard Coats, Sr. and Mary Lou Coats and went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. He was strong in his faith and dedicated to his church family at Apostolic Faith Tabernacle. He had a great sense of humor and love for laughter. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary; five sisters, Lucille, Louise, Jeanette, Joann, and Wanda; and grandson, Adam. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Caroline Sue Coats; sons, Dwain Coats and wife Jennifer, Mark Coats, and Darin Coats; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister, Virgie Roberson; and one spoiled-rotten dog, Baxter. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of WK Pierremont ICU and Step Down Unit.
