Richard Alvin Porter

Richard Alvin Porter was born in Mansfield, Louisiana on October 16, 1950, to Wade Alvin Porter Jr. and Billye Sue Belk Porter. His arrival had an added surprise, a twin brother by the name of Russell Ray Porter.

Alvin, aka “Big Al,” “Big Al from Kingwood, Birdie Machine, husband, daddy, “Biggie”, Diddly, Brother, and friend was a man know for his ability to sell trailers and the ability to teach both young and older men how to sell. Some would call him tough, others say he gave them the skills that would last a lifetime. His boundless energy and unconventional thinking touched everyone who had the privilege of crossing his path.

After a successful sales career at Nabors Trailers and owning his own trailer business, He started Cleveland Mack Truck -Trailer Division (Now Performance Truck) on June 10, 1991, and retired after 31 years.

Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Deborah Kaye Williams Porter. He is also survived by his three beloved daughters: Jennifer Kaye Porter Boneno (Kevin), Lindsay Rebecca Porter Falgoust (Scott) and Katherine Mills Porter Richardson (Russell), along with their mother, Becky Porter. Alvin is also survived by his bonus sons, Brandon O’Neal Byrd and Cameron Matthew Byrd, who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Porter Burford. Known affectionally as Biggie, he was especially proud of his grandchildren, who were the light of his life; Libby Richardson, Mills Richardson, Ella Kate Falgoust, Riley Falgoust, Luca Boneno, Isabelle Boneno, Jase Byrd, Alise Byrd, Jordan Byrd, Avery Byrd, and Wyland Byrd.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents: Billye Sue Belk Porter,

father, Wade Alvin Porter, Jr, twin Brother, Russell Ray Porter, and nephews Charles Elmer Burford III “Trey” and Matthew Ray Porter.

Alvin leaves many friends, relatives and co-workers who were inspired by his unique outlook on life, his natural wit, distinctive laugh and gift of cooking. Alvin showed his love for family and friends through cooking and gathering of people. No excuse was needed for a good party, but an LSU Game required a lively party with plenty of food, drink and fun!

Alvin and his wife, Debbie, adored each other. Their love and enjoyment of life and home inspired many. They enjoyed every minute together and served as a model on how to keep love alive.

A funny story about raising Ray and Alvin: They loved to fight. Early on, their daddy bought two small pairs of boxing gloves, one pair was blue, and the other pair was red. He would “draw a circle” in the dirt. They would box until one of them was knocked out of the circle. Then the argument was over. Much to the amazement of friends and family, the tradition of settling arguments continued into early adulthood.

Life was lived and loved loudly. When the time came to go to Heaven, Alvin went with confidence and bravery. Jesus and family welcomed him home.

The family would like to thank all his doctors and care team as well as Accent Care Home Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 B's On The Green, located at 20700 Mills Branch Drive, Porter, Texas, 77365, on October 16, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
