Funeral services for Reginald "Reggie" Morehead, Jr., 61, will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Cross Point Baptist Church, 3140 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111. Burial will immediately follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111. Officiating will be Pastor Shane Nugent. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111.
Reggie was born November 11, 1959 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Reginald "Ace" Morehead, Sr. and Gloria Black Morehead. He passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He lost his battle with COVID-19, the same illness that claimed his wife just over a month ago.
Reggie graduated from Northwood High School in 1977. While finding his passion for drag racing and motor cross racing, Reggie became an accomplished mechanic and engine builder. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, deer hunting and duck hunting. Reggie was self-driven and always a perfectionist, he never settled for anything less. He will be truly missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of four years, Sonia Denise Morehead. Reggie is survived by his daughter, Gina Lawson and husband, David; sister, Cindy Brix and husband, Dave; nephew and fishing partner, David Brix and wife, Tracy; grandchildren, Carson and Kinley Lawson; stepchildren, Becca Shaw, Chassidy Comella and Brian Stovner; mother-in-law, Bonnie Jo Smith and important friends, Peggy Kirtley, Mike Dehner and wife, Becky.
Honoring Reggie as pallbearers will be Bim Raborn, Ernie Davis, Jim Selitto, Jimmy Wooten, Mike Davis and Steven Nesbitt. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Chad Cole and Gene Driggers.
