Regina Levinson Wren, a compassionate great-grandmother, grandmother, and mom, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born February 2, 1943, in Denison, TX, to Albert Jack Levinson and Jeane Levinson. She was a proud Denison Yellow Jacket.
After graduating high school, she enrolled at Centenary College of Louisiana in 1961. It was during her freshman year that she met the “Love of her life,” Gayle Wren. They were married in July 1965, just two months after graduating from Centenary. Their first home was in Monroe, Louisiana, while Gayle was in Pharmacy school. Regina taught second grade at Lexington Elementary School.
After Gayle graduated from pharmacy school, they moved back to Shreveport and made it their home for 60 years. Regina had several different careers upon moving back to Shreveport. She was a teacher, worked in photography, sold real estate, but she found her true passion in the ministry of the United Methodist Church. She began her ministry as the director of the Noel Food Pantry, which was part of the Samaritan Center. After much encouragement from her mentors and friends at Noel United Methodist Church, she began to pursue a master’s in theology from Southern Methodist University. While working full-time, she would go to class for 3-week stints twice a year to complete her master’s degree. Upon graduation, she was appointed as a Diaconal Minister in the United Methodist Church.
She began her formal ministry while on staff at Asbury United Methodist Church for two years before she was called to join the staff at First United Methodist Church of Shreveport. In her many years of ministry, she was drawn to senior adult ministry and working with their families. In addition, she worked as a chaplain for Grace Home, a hospice provider with the Christus Health System. There she would walk into the quietest rooms and brought the peace of Christ with her. She loved to hold your hand, listen deeply, and offer a steady presence of Christ to those who needed it most.
Regina was a woman anchored in her love for Christ. For her, ministry was not confined to a church building, but it was a daily, tireless mission to ensure that no one she met walked away without experiencing God’s Love. She poured herself out completely for others, serving as a beacon of faith, hope, and compassion. Her life was a beautiful reflection of the Gospel, and the seeds of faith she planted will continue to grow for many generations.
She is survived by her greatest joys, her sons, Brad Wren and Blake Wren; daughter-in-law, Kristi; her grandchildren, Emily Feazel, Bradley, Will, Landes and Reese Wren; and one great-grandchild, Callum Feazel. Preceding her in death is her beloved husband, Gayle, and her parents. Her mind and body are now whole, celebrating the eternal life that she shared for a lifetime.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Methodist Church Shreveport on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 11 am in Couch Chapel. The family will receive visitors before the service in the parlor at 10 am.
The family asked that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation to the charity of your choice. Share the Gospel with someone, give a smile to those who are down, and hold the hand of the tired. Love comes in so many ways, but we are all called to share the love of Christ.
