Graveside services for Reed Martin Simpkins, 89, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021, at Hurricane Cemetery in Arcadia, Louisiana. Pastor Bo Horn will officiate.
Reed was born January 15, 1932, in Green County, Mississippi and passed away October 25, 2021, in Arcadia, Louisiana. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Arcadia where he was a Sunday school teacher and served on the board. Reed retired from the United States Air Force as a Military Policeman. He also worked at the Girl Scout Camp as a Ranger and drove a school bus for Bienville Parish. Reed was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans organizations. One of his greatest joys was being a part of the Piney Hills Riding Club. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be greatly missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Simpkins and Abigail Simpkins; brothers, Paul Simpkins, Floyd Simpkins and Chodie Simpkins; sister, Helen Hughes; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Simpkins; and great grandson, Brasyn McClanahan.
Reed is survived by his wife, Norma Simpkins; sons, David Simpkins and wife Melinda, John Simpkins and wife Patty; daughters, Deborah "Dee" Hamilton and husband Mike, Dianna Roddy and husband Dale, 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
