Rebecca “Becky” Burns Holt, age 67, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
A visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025 located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA 71118.
Becky was born on Thursday, May 9, 1957, in Shreveport, Louisiana, the daughter of Robert and Cora Burns. While attending Huntington High School, she was an outstanding journalism student and was part of the school’s first graduating class in 1975. She later attended Louisiana Tech University for four years with her husband, Fred.
Fred and Becky were married at Mangum Memorial United Methodist Church on February 14, 1981. They lived briefly in Orange, Texas, and Bossier City, before settling in Shreveport, where they shared over 40 years together.
Becky worked as an office manager for small businesses, most recently with Thompson Drywall in Shreveport, where she served for twenty years. Throughout her life, she was a constant presence at her children’s and grandchildren’s events, volunteering at church, serving on nonprofit boards and PTSA executive committees, including as President of the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet. She gave generously of her time and energy to anyone in need.
She credited her wisdom and decisiveness to the lifelong guidance and support of her parents. Becky enjoyed crafting, painting, and—more than anything—being the best “Cookie” to her grandchildren. A fabulous cook and baker, she was known for preparing delicious dishes and desserts, especially during the holidays. Her husband often described her as “the best person I know,” and remained daily grateful that she had chosen him for life.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Prentiss Burns and Cora Lee Woods Burns, along with many beloved aunts and uncles.
Her closest survivors include her husband, Fred Holt of Shreveport; children, Piper and Thomas Cooper of Arkansas, and Ashton Brady of Shreveport; four-legged child, Max; nieces, April Wolfe of Shreveport, and Brandi White and Krista Harvey of Texas; and grandchildren, Colter and Olivia Cooper of Arkansas. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and an abundance of friends, acquaintances, and business associates who deeply value her lasting contributions and impact on their lives.
She is already sorely missed.
