Raymond Betts McWaters, age 87, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away from complications of a stroke on Sunday, February 21, 2021.
Raymond was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He graduated from Fair Park High School and Texas A&M and was enlisted in the United States Army for three years. He owned and ran McWaters Construction Company for over 50 years building homes, churches and even a tree house. He loved working with wood building windmills and bird feeders. He was an Eagle Scout and loved football, hunting and fishing, especially in Alaska. He loved camping and boating on Caddo Lake with family.
He was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Leola McWaters; sisters, Waldene Webb, Carolyn Scott and Gail Bryant; and wife, Nell McWaters. He is survived by son, Mike McWaters; daughters, Raymona Pooler and Rene Witt; and grandchildren, Christopher McWaters, Melissa McWaters, Amanda McWaters, Amber Thorsell, Christina Allen, John Cloyes, Brett Clark, and Travis Clark.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be his nephew, Colin Webb. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana, Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
