Ralph Waymon Wren, Sr.

A Celebration of Life Service for Ralph Waymon “Kit” Wren, Sr., will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Southern Hills Church of Christ, 9080 Southwood Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana 71118. Officiating the service will be Minister Joe Huffman.

Waymon was born in Martin, Louisiana on March 10, 1934 and went home to be with the Lord, January 22, 2023. He was 88.

Waymon served others in every area of his life. He served in the Air Force and was a proud member of the Shreveport Police Department for more than 20 years, retiring as Captain. He was head of security at the Shreveport Airport, then moved to train police officers at the Shreveport Police Academy.

He was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ. Waymon loved to work in his yard, ride four-wheelers, hunt, travel in his motorhome, help with the Carson Shadix Garage Sale, and spend time at their camp on Montery Lake.

He and his wife, Ann, served as “Sojourners,” taking their motorhome to congregations who needed help. Waymon taught “Listening Labs” so the Sojourners could minister to others better.

Waymon was married to the love of his life, Ann, for 64 years. When Ann passed away April 3, 2022, he missed her every single day. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Laurie, Hosie, and Chester and one great-niece, Gigi. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Ralph Waymon Wren, Jr. (Annette); granddaughter, Krystal Stanley; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; nieces, Laurette (Jackie) Tingle, Pat (Jerry) Kitchens; brothers-in-law, Eddie and Kenneth Jackson; nephew, Trey Jackson (Jennifer); and many close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund at Southern Hills Church of Christ, 9080 Southwood Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana 71118.
