Polan Wayne Hayes, Jr., age 79 passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. A visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana, Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service to immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. in Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriweather Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Trinity Heights Baptist Church, Minster to Senior Adults, Mike Ryan will officiate.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Polan Wayne Hayes, Sr. and Marie Hogan Hayes, and sister, Barbara Hartwell.
Wayne was born on November 14, 1942. He was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, and a 1960 graduate of Fair Park High School. He attended Northwestern State University and Louisiana Tech University. He was an electrician and retired Electric Contractor, a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union #194.
He loved the beauty and nature of Caddo Lake and was an avid crappie fisherman for many years. He loved woodworking and in recent years shared many bluebird boxes and his abundant blackberry crop with friends and family.
His family was his pride and joy and treasured special times spent with them. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member and deacon at Trinity Heights Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, wife, Dianne Hayes, married for 56 years; sons, David Hayes and wife, Michelle, Eric Hayes and wife, Renee; grandchildren, Taylor Hayes and fiancé, Chase Johnston, Bailey Hayes, Nicholas Hayes, Christopher Hayes and Mitchell Hayes; numerous nieces and nephews; and special fur puppy, Daisy Dee.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Trinity Heights Baptist Church, Share the Way Ministries c/o Trinity Heights, 3820 Old Mooringsport Rd, Shreveport, LA 71107 or the charity of the donor\'s choice.
