Philip Lynn Blue was born on September 15, 1942, in Marthaville, Louisiana to Issac Blue and Verda Roe Blue and passed away June 1, 2026, in Logansport, Louisiana.

Philip Blue was a devoted husband to Tommie Elliott for 53 years. He was a wonderful father to three boys, Rusty, Tommy and Mike. The children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were always ready to come to their home. There was always food, candy and lots of love. He was a strong man whose roots ran deep. He loved talking about his family history and the stories of growing up in Ajax. Those memories were important to him, and he took great pride in where he came from and the people who shaped his life.

One of the greatest joys of his life was spending time with his wife and boys on the beaches of Florida. He loved deep-sea fishing, the sound of the waves, and the memories made on those family trips. Those moments brought him happiness and became stories he treasured throughout his life.

He was deeply devoted to his work as an oilfield superintendent. He took great pride in what he did and remained passionate about his career until the very end, talking about his work and the people he worked alongside right up until the day he passed away. More than coworkers, the men on his crews became lifelong friends. He valued their friendships, respected their hard work, and genuinely cared about each of them.

He was the kind of man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His generosity extended far beyond his actions—there was always room for one more at his supper table. Family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers were welcomed with a warm smile and a good meal. If you left his house hungry, it was by choice, because there was always more than enough food to share.

He was an avid reader who never stopped learning and took pride in a job well done. While many knew him as a dedicated oilfield superintendent, those who loved him knew he was a farmer at heart. He could often be found on his tractor, planting a garden in the spring and harvesting its bounty later in the year. He loved working the land, feeding his cows, and caring for the place he called home.

His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy. He loved having them by his side, letting them “help” him feed the cows, work in the garden, or ride along on the tractor. He treasured every moment spent with them. Whether it was slipping them a little "gas money" or "Coke money," he found happiness in giving and making them smile. Their laughter brought life to his days, and they were truly the light of his life.

He was rarely seen without his signature attire—starched denim jeans, a Wrangler shirt, boots or brown shoes, and a cap or hat. It wasn't just what he wore; it reflected the hardworking, humble, and dependable man he was. He carried himself with quiet confidence, a strong work ethic, and a deep sense of pride.

Some of the best family memories were made around his grill. He loved cooking for family gatherings and making sure everyone had plenty to eat. Food was one of the many ways he showed his love. Family and friends always knew that if he was grilling, there would be plenty of food and a cold watermelon waiting to be sliced and shared. Whether gathered around the supper table, sitting on the porch, or enjoying a meal fresh from the grill, family always came first.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, loyal friend, respected coworker, and a man of unwavering strength and character. His kindness, generosity, wisdom, and love for family touched countless lives. Though he will be deeply missed, the stories he shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

His family will remember a man who worked hard, loved deeply, welcomed everyone to his table, never forgot where he came from, and always made time for the people he loved. His strength, kindness, and devotion to his family leave a legacy that will live on for generations.

Philip was preceded in death by parents, Issac and Verda Blue; brother, Clinton Blue and sister-in-law, Trudy Arbuckle.
