Peter Billy
Cassel, Sr.
March 26, 1960 — August 29, 2026
Peter Billy Cassel Sr, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 26, 1960, in Bad Cannstatt Germany to Talmadge and Hildegard Cassel, Peter lived a life full of love, adventure, and kindness.
Peter grew up surrounded by a close-knit family, including his siblings Richard, Robert, and Virgel. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Talmadge and Hilde, and his sister Brenda. His family roots were foundational in shaping the deeply compassionate and generous person Peter became.
In 2001, Peter married the love of his life, Diana. Together, they shared 25 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and many adventures. Diana and Peter's bond was an inspiring testament to true partnership and love.
Peter was the proud father of four children: Valerie Schouten, and her husband Matt; Billy Cassel, and his wife Brooke; and Brandon Cassel, and his wife Anna; stepdaughter Angela Patterson. His legacy continues through his 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and fulfillment to his life.
For 32 years, Peter dedicated himself to his career as a residential painting contractor. He built strong, lasting relationships with many builders and homeowners, earning a reputation for his hard work and integrity.
Outside of work, Peter was an avid fisherman. He never turned down a chance to catch a mess of catfish, often accompanied by his best friend "Chief." He also found joy in the open road, riding his Harley and taking trips with Diana, savoring the winds of freedom and adventure.
Peter was known far and wide for his kind heart and generosity. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand, often giving the shirt off his back to those in need. His warm spirit and selfless nature touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Peter was a hands-on guy who could always be found in the yard tinkering on projects and fixing things that were broken.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Christus Highland for their dedicated care and compassion during Peter's final days. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Saire Medoza of Christus Trinity Clinic and the Christus Hospice staff for their unwavering support and kindness.
In accordance with Peter's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Peter's name, as a way to continue his legacy of giving and compassion.
Peter Billy Cassel Sr will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, kindness, and adventure will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
