Perry Michael (Mike) Orr

Perry Michael “Mike” Orr, Jr., born September 3, 1971, passed away on July 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of skill, dedication, and cherished friendships. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susie Orr; his mother, Donna Herman; his brothers, Clint Orr (and his wife, Dinah) and David Herman (and his wife, Sarah); his grandmother, Virginia Lutterman (and husband, Gerald); his aunts and uncles, Nancy Ting, Jo Ann and Duke Jackson, Charlotte and Dewayne Stanley, and Ken Vowell; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

From an early age, Mike displayed an exceptional gift for understanding how things worked. Around age ten, he took apart his grandfather's lawnmower engine piece by piece to see how it operated, then carefully reassembled it. This curiosity defined his remarkable career as a master mechanic whose expertise was recognized far beyond his home state. His step-father, Roy Herman, who owned an auto body shop, nurtured Mike’s early passion. Mike and his brothers, David and Clint, spent formative hours helping Roy, developing the skills that would guide their lives. The three brothers shared a solid bond, spending their teenage years riding three-wheelers through the woods, camping in Arkansas, and playing in creeks. This love of nature continued throughout their lives, especially during cherished visits to Two Mile Creek in Arkansas.

Mike’s skills were so valued that he was sent to other countries to train and teach fellow mechanics. For years, he worked for Enterprise Products maintaining large commercial diesel engines in the natural gas field, and also worked for Anadarko Petroleum, Louisiana CAT, and Saia Freight, where his meticulous craftsmanship earned him respect and admiration. At home in Haughton, Louisiana, Michael enjoyed working in his shop, petting his dog, Bree, and driving around in his golf cart. His unwavering love for his wife, Susie, was evident to everyone who knew them. When not devoted to his work, Michael found joy and peace at Two Mile Creek Ranch near Mena, Arkansas, where he built a community of dear friends. His generous spirit extended to all those around him.

Mike will be remembered for his love of picking up family and friends in his truck for drives filled with hysterical stories. A skilled storyteller, he kept everyone laughing and entertained. He was passionate about history and loved challenging people's knowledge with questions, often rewarding those who answered correctly. His legacy lives on through his family and friends. Being a Christian, Mike is now in heaven with his beloved Papaw, Max Orr, his father, Perry Michael Orr Sr., and his step-dad, Roy Herman, and his good friend, Gene Cole, tinkering away and entertaining them with incredible but true stories.

Funeral services for Mike will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Tony Nations. The family requests that everyone wear casual attire.

Honoring Mike as pallbearers will be Clint Orr, David Herman, Joey Smith, Jimmy Dowdall, Mathew Dowdall, Justin Rodgers, Dal White, and Leagon Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
