Funeral services for Peggy "Sue" Goodson McKinnon, 87, will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Monday, November 11, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating the service will be Minister Tim Thiele.

Sue was born on September 19, 1937, on the family farm in Union County, Arkansas near Lockhart, Louisiana. She was the youngest of eight children born to Ada Izell Sumners and George Franklin “Bud” Goodson. She departed this life on November 5, 2024. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Carriage Oaks Church of Christ and attended as long as her health allowed. She attended and graduated from Junction City schools where she met the love of her life, Jerry McKinnon, in the tenth grade when he came to Junction to play football. She was a Cheerleader and Homecoming Queen her senior year. She and Jerry graduated in May and married June 25, 1955. Their first son, Jeffery Wayne, was born in 1956 and their second son, Bryan Keith, was born in 1959.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Ada and Bud Goodson; son, Bryan Keith McKinnon; sisters, Robbie Griffin, Letha Rockett, Jewel Canady, Nellie Ruth Laney, and Sadie Endel Templeton; brothers, Joe Goodson and Ellis Goodson; niece, Tanya Endel Wells; two nephews, Larry Rockett and Greg Endel. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of over 69 years, Jerry McKinnon; son, Jeffery (Tammi) McKinnon of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and daughter-in-law, Brenda McKinnon of Bossier City. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Dr. Laurel (Jeremy) Barnes and their children, Lainey, Kate and Jenna of Keene, Texas; Andrew “Drew” (Melissa) McKinnon and their children, J.P., Leah Grace, and Grant of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Erica Sue (Elijah) Guilliams and their children, Ryder, Granger, and McKinna Sue of Ringgold, Louisiana, and Travis (Kalli) McKinnon and their son, Merritt of Haughton, Louisiana. She is also survived by one of her best friends, Earline Cameron, her coffee drinking and shopping buddy. She was so faithful to visit her several times a week during these last months as her health began to fail. 

Honoring Sue as pallbearers will be Drew McKinnon, J.P. McKinnon, Travis McKinnon, Jeremy Barnes, Elijah Guilliams, and Randy Draper.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Children’s Homes, Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas 72450.
