Peggy L. Simmons

Shreveport, LA - Peggy Laverne Simmons age 83, passed away on April 5, 2020 in Texarkana, Texas. Mrs. Simmons was born on April 16, 1936 in Coushatta, Louisiana. After marrying Reverend Reginald Simmons they together went into the Christian Ministry, preaching in Louisiana and Texas. Peggy retired as an insurance Verification Certifier from Schumpert Medical Center. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved cooking meals for friends and family. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Reverend Reginald Lee Simmons; mother, Lelia E. Cannon; sister, Margie Lee McQuiston and Jimmie Lee Pate. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Lynn Jones and husband Calvin; grandchildren, Mark S. Shepherd and wife Joy and Amy Marie Latham and husband Stuart; great-grandchildren, Brittany Marie Shepherd, McKenzie Shepherd and Kyle Shepherd of Shreveport, LA. Christopher James Latham, Caitlynn Elizabeth Latham and Felicity Rose Latham of Murry Bridge Australia and a host of cousins and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hall Summit, LA. Brother Rocky Maddox will be officiating the service.
