Peggy Allen Holladay, born in Shreveport, Louisiana on May 18, 1951, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana after a brief illness. She was the beloved daughter of Lyndon Blaine Allen and Mary Katherine Allen Ladymon, who preceded her in death.
Peggy is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Dr. Robert E. Holladay; her daughters, Camille Holladay and husband, Keith, and Robin Peak and husband, John; and her grandchildren, Atom Holladay, Jack Peak, and Lucille Peak. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Karen Stevens, as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who were touched by her creativity.
A talented artist and performer, Peggy graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1969, and pursued her passion for the arts at both Louisiana State University and Southern Methodist University, majoring in studio art. She continued her education at Louisiana Tech, including a memorable summer abroad in Italy that enriched her artistic perspective.
Peggy dedicated her life to the pursuit of art in many forms. Her unique distinctive fashion figure drawings led to a position as a fashion illustrator for a department store, and she later taught commercial art in Baton Rouge. Her oil portraits and landscapes were commissioned by Shreveport families for many years. She also explored a range of other artistic disciplines including anatomy studies, life drawing, and mixed media.
In addition to her visual art, Peggy had a lifelong love of music and theater. She was a familiar presence in local community theater, appearing in numerous musical productions in the 1990’s. Whether in leading roles or ensemble parts, she brought a vibrant energy and joy to every performance.
Peggy’s humor and artistic spirit enriched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Ajit Alexander, Dr. John Evans, Dr. William Haynie, Jr., Dr. Pavan Katikaneni, Dr. Robert Massingill, Dr. Guillermo Padilla, Dr. Robert Rickman, and the nurses and respiratory therapists at Christus Highland Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for their dedicated and compassionate care of Peggy.
Family services were held at First Methodist Church with Reverend Kathy Wafer officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana or Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission.
