Peggy Ann Farnell, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and will miss her more than words can express. There is a quiet peace in knowing she is finally out of pain and in the arms of Jesus.
Peggy was born on July 20, 1939, to Lunnie Ovie Conly and Benton Martin Conly, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Wayne Kochakian.
She is survived by her son, Timothy Martin Kochakian, and his wife, Jamie; her grandchildren, Whitney Gilley and husband, Bobby Courtney Houser and husband, Trey, and Garrett Kochakian; and her precious great-grandchildren, Peyton Gilley, Murphey Gilley, Lennon Houser, Bo Gilley, and Jagger Houser. To her family, she was Mamaw — one of a kind, with a spunky spirit and a style all her own.
Peggy worked for Texas Eastern Pipeline as a secretary, but the work that mattered most was loving her family. Family was the center of her life. Her whole face would light up the minute one of her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren walked into the room. Being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother meant everything to her.
She never liked being old. Long before she even was, you could still hear her say it: “It’s no fun getting old.” Age never quite caught her. When family thinks of her, they see high heels, funky nail polish, sparkly accessories, and a rock-and-roll queen who refused to dim.
Her songs were Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” and Iron Butterfly’s “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.” A couple of days before she passed, those songs were played for her. Through everything, it looked like she lifted her arm — just enough — like she was still trying to catch the beat.
Peggy also had a tremendous love for animals. She had a tender heart for them her whole life and was especially devoted to her beloved cat, Baby Girl, a companion, a comfort, and very much part of the family.
She fought hard these last months, and especially this last week. She was strong right until the end.
A graveside service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Rocky Mount Cemetery in Ringgold, Louisiana.
Serving as pallbearers will be Garrett Kochakian, Trey Houser, Bobby Gilley, Lawrence Milford, John Phillip Sipes, Gary Oliver, and Peyton Gilley.
Flowers may be sent to Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Those wishing to honor Peggy’s memory may also make a memorial donation to Kitty Cradle, www.thekittencradle.org, or Port City Cat Rescue, www.portcitycatrescue.org, in honor of the love and compassion she always had for animals.
From her family
Our hearts are broken to say goodbye to someone who has been such an important part of our lives. We will miss her laugh, her personality, her bright colors and funky style, the lunch dates and shopping trips, the spaghetti and meatballs, the holiday dressing, and all the little things that made her Mamaw.
We hope she is living her best heavenly life with no age holding her back — dressed to the nines, nails painted every color, dancing again to the rock and roll she never stopped loving.
This isn’t goodbye. It’s just until we see you again.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me…” — Psalm 23:1-4
Keep dancing, Mamaw. We will carry your love, your memories, and a little piece of your spunk with us always.
