Paul Ray Quigley, 84, a lifelong resident of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on May 19, 1941, to Mary Bell Sheppard Quigley and Rapheus Paul Quigley. After graduating from Bossier High School class of 1960 and Baptist Christian College with a BA, he went on to a career as a locomotive engineer at Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and an entrepreneur and owner of several businesses, including “The Pelican/ The Bird”. He was known for his fierce love of his family and diligence in earning a dollar.
Beyond his professional life, Paul was passionate about family and business. He also enjoyed gathering and having a good meal with his family. He relished his time as a member of the Bossier Chapter of the Jaycees and as an Outstanding National Jaycee of the Year. He supported and embraced his wife’s passion for the State of Louisiana Retired Teachers Association. In their travels to state meetings, he made many friends and was fond of the time spent together. He was a member of the Airline Baptist Church and looked forward to his talks with Brother Shelton. His quick wit, gentle spirit, mischievous personality, generosity, ocean-blue eyes, distinctive, enticing aroma, his role as family historian, and love will be missed by all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Lee O’Brien Quigley. His daughter, Theresa, and husband, Jim Giles, and his son, Brien Quigley. His grandsons, Darrell Giles and wife, Ashlie, Cole Giles and fiancé, Jordan Jameson, Hunter Giles and fiancé, Morgan Miles; great-grandson, Kolin Giles; great-granddaughters, Brynlie Giles, Baylor Giles, Hazel Lee (as he called her) Giles, Ava Giles, and bonus great-granddaughter, Gyntree Bray. He is also survived by his brother, James Quigley, and wife, Karon; sisters, Linda Ladnier and husband, Danny, Mary Normand and husband, Bruce, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Bell Sheppard Quigley, and father, Paul Quigley; mother and father-in-law, Pat and Jim O’Brien; sisters, Bobbie Staler, Shirley Olson, and brother Harold Quigley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Giles, Darrell Giles, Cole Giles, Hunter Giles, Kolin Giles, Chris Sandlin, Aaron Smith, Ed Olson, Mark Olson, and Lee Cornett.
A service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Harrell Shelton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
The family would like to thank his devoted home health nurse, Shane Pilkington, and home health therapist, Peyton. They would also like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff on the third floor, 3019, and fourth floor, 4010, Willis Knighton Bossier.
