Paul Wayne Pepper, age 64, passed away at home surrounded by his family and friends on January 21, 2024.
After Paul became a believer in the 1980’s, he went on to attend Central Bible College where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies. While there, he met the love of his life, Melissa.
Paul was an ordained minister where he pastored at Ruston First Assembly of God. He had a deep love for the Lord and it showed wherever he was. Paul was the same person at home that he was in the pulpit. He lived it. To Paul, the mission field was wherever he was whether it be at home, work, or play.
While in kindergarten, Paul’s teacher nicknamed him “Pinky” after the red-headed boy in a story they were reading. That nickname stuck with him throughout his life, especially in his career in the oilfield where he is known as “Pinky Pepper.”
Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent many hours at Lake D’arbonne watching the screen on his live scope.
Paul was born March 30, 1959, in El Dorado, AR to James E. and Helen Simpson Pepper. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rita Ann Pepper; and brother, James Randall Pepper.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Melissa Sue Stratton Pepper of Downsville, LA; son, James Evan Pepper and wife, Madison of Farmerville, LA; daughter, Kaitlyn Suzanne Pepper of Downsville, LA; his brother Darrell and wife Susan Pepper of Summerfield, in-laws, Gary and Brenda Stratton of El Dorado, AR; sister-in-law Rocky Pepper; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Paul’s family would like to express their gratitude to Point Assembly of God, Brammer Engineering, and Elara Caring Hospice for the care and compassion given him during his final days.
Pallbearers were Clay Johnson, Dennis Gaston, Mark Stratton, Michael Stratton, Brian Spurlock, and Floyd Burns. Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Pepper and Gary Stratton.
The family suggest memorials in honor or Paul be made to Minden Adult and Teen Challenge Family Center, 100 Meadowbrook Dr, Minden, LA 71055.
