Paul Ellis Pratt, Sr.

Paul Ellis Pratt, Sr., 71, of Shreveport, Louisiana, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 after a very hard-fought battle with cancer. Paul was born on February 6, 1951 in Lake City, Arkansas. As a young boy, Paul, with his brothers, Bill and Jim were regular, active members of the El Dorado YMCA, swimming and playing in Little League. During junior high, Paul was an active leader on the Greenwood Junior High basketball team. It was while attending Greenwood Methodist Church that he was baptized into Christ, at age 13. During his youth, he and his siblings spent many summer days visiting his maternal grandparents, Ivy Owen and Dolly Blessing Mitchell on their farm near Conway, Arkansas. Paul was a 1969 graduate of Fair Park, and served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He had a great love of golf, his fur baby, Nina, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and other family members. He was also known for his witty nature and sense of humor. Paul is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Dominick Pratt; his parents, Edwin and Ilah Pratt; two siblings, Louise Powell and Micky Hicks Freeman, and nephews Stacy Hicks and Kerry Don Powell. He is survived by his best friend, life partner and wife of 40 years, Jane Sullivan Pratt; his two sons, Paul Pratt, Jr. and wife, Tamye and Wesley Reed Pratt; daughter, Christen Pratt Metzger and husband, Jim; siblings Wanda Giles, Wilma Bergman, Bill Pratt, Jim Pratt, and Brenda Peak and their families; six grandchildren and four precious great-grandbabies. Paul can now rest in peace, reunited with his son, Christopher. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Snead and his staff at Christus Highland Cancer Center. The family will be holding a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
