Patty Stinson Purkey

A graveside service for Patty Stinson Purkey, 64, will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Chaplain Jerry Kennedy. Patty was born on September 11, 1957 to William C. "Bill" Stinson and Martha Calcote Stinson in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away on January 23, 2022 in Greenwood, Louisiana. Patty graduated from Southwood High School and LSUS with a degree in accounting. She loved reading and was a lifelong swimmer. In her earlier years, she was on the swim team at Southside Swim Club and eventually was a swim coach instructor. She loved watching football and was an avid Saints and LSU Tiger fan. She had a love for antiques and anything old. Patty had a green thumb and loved her flowers, especially her Louisiana Irises. She was an amazing cook and loved to cook for her family. We will all miss her famous gumbo. Patty is preceded in death by her son, James "Jamie" L. Edmonson. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Will Purkey; her parents, two sons and two stepsons; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers; and a host of family and friends. The family suggests that memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or any local cancer charity.
