Patsy Ann Thomas Gryder

A graveside service will be held for Patsy Ann Thomas Gryder, age 88, at Union Springs Cemetery, 1311 Fire Tower Road, Shongaloo, LA, on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Floyd Smith, officiating. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 East 5th Street, Homer, LA, from 10-noon, prior to the service.

Patsy was born May 7, 1937, in Haynesville, LA, to Merrell and Katie Lee Edmonds Thomas. She passed away from this life on March 7, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Patsy was a devoted wife, mom, mamaw, great-mamaw and great-great mamaw. She loved to read, put jigsaw puzzles together, do word searches, and watching hummingbirds. She also, collected rocks on all their adventures out West. Patsy was a downhome, total from scratch cook and nobody can make biscuits like Mamaw Gryder. She made a mayonnaise cake for everybody‘s birthday every year. Patsy baked two pecan pies for actor Michael Douglas while he was on the set filming “Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.” Michael ate one whole pie right by himself.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert C. Gryder; her parents; and two sisters, Marjorie Childs and Poochie Modisette.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Ronnie Carroll Gryder (Cheryl), Sammy Darrell Gryder (Donna), Denise Annette Gryder Miller (Kevin), Kandy Kay McPherson (Scott), Michael Craig Gryder (Paige). Patsy has 14 grandchildren, Matt Gryder (Katie), Kasey Gryder (Elizabeth), Clay Gryder (Kaley), Cody Gryder (Kayla), Bradley Miller (Danielle), Ember Johnson (Zach), Josh McPherson, Zach McPherson (Carissa), Jacob McPherson, Ben McPherson, Katie McPherson, Drake Gryder, Luke Gryder, Blake Gryder. She has 13 great-grandchildren, Madison Gryder (Jarrett), Reilly Gryder, Joe Gryder (Zeta), McKayla Gryder (Maddox), Rylan Gryder, Korey Gryder, Aubrey Gryder, Owen Gryder, Josie Gryder, Lily Miller, Lawson Johnson, Evangeline McPherson, Lochlan McPherson; step-great-grandchildren, Avery and Bailey Horn. Patsy has two great-great-grandchildren, Ezlyn Gryder and Hudson Gryder. She has two brothers and a sister, Ed Thomas, Jimmy Thomas (Cindy), and Wanda Butler (Henry); niece, Janice Yager; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and granddaughters.
