A Memorial Service for Patsy "Pat" Harkey will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Bossier. Reverend Glenn Barton will be officiating the service.
Mrs. Patsy "Pat" Laverne Jenkins Harkey a native of Clarksville, Tennessee. She went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the age of 79. She passed away peacefully at Willis Knighton Hospital in Bossier City, Louisiana. She was a resident of Blanchard for 23 years. Her life achievements were homemaker, bookkeeping, restaurant management, and retail management. She is a member of the Baptist church. She was a lady that could do anything that she decided to do.
Pat is survived by her husband, David B. Harkey, Sr of Blanchard, LA.; three daughters, Theresa Lusk of Panama City, FL, Sheri Barton and husband, Larry Barton of Longview, TX, and Glenda Norton of Bossier City, LA; one son, David B. Harkey, Jr of Henderson, TX; nine grandchildren, Michael Harkey, Shana McCormack, Amy Duncan, April Davis, David Norton, Jared Norton, Breann Harkey and Ashley Harkey; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. She was the second born of 16 siblings of a blended family.
She is preceded in death by her grandson, Branden Harkey of Kilgore, TX; her mother and stepfather, Mary Francis and W.E Phillips; and her father, Cecil Jenkins.
Pat loved to dance, listen to music, go camping, fishing and the outdoors. She also loved the holidays and gathering family and friends for food and festivities. During Christmas season the family would decorate the whole front yard and house with lights and figurines. She enjoyed riding around the area seeing everyone else's lights and their creativity. She loved gardening vegetables, flowers, and trees. She could grow anything. She would grow award winning roses and tear your butt up if you took a bat to them, as her youngest child found out the hard way. Her yard is filled with flowers and love everywhere. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
