Pat was born on September 11, 1953 to James Gaynor McCabe and Betty Gene Murphy McCabe and passed away on March 28, 2024 in Hurst, Texas.  In the past, he lived in Maryland, Hawaii, Houston, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana.

Pat went to St. Joseph Catholic School in Shreveport until the 8th grade and graduated from Captain Shreve High School Class of 1971.  He went on to get an Architectural Degree from LA Tech Class of 1979.

He began his career in Maryland with Marriott Hotels where he designed large hotel and resort projects around the nation. The next chapter of his career lead him to Houston where he began working as Architectural Design Engineer for Worrell Design Group on my famous restaurants and commercial kitchens. Pat's time at Worrell catapulted his career to allow him to travel nationwide including places like Hawaii, eventually settling in Hurst, Texas. There he opened his own business "McCabe Consulting" for food service design and specifications at various hotels, restaurants, corporate offices, convention centers, and concert venues.

Pat loved hunting deer, duck, and fishing with son and family friends, the Trimmers every year for 20 + years. Traveling across Texas to various hunting leases all together. He also enjoyed golfing with son and watching golf with son, Murphy.  In the last few years having the opportunity to play at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Verda Beach, Florida and Kapalua Golf Course in Maui. It was a father and son tradition to attend Colonial PGA Golf Tournament every single year. Making it sentimental that we will host his celebration of life at Colonial's Country Club.

He was a nationwide traveler! Visiting many different states across the US to see his favorite bands with life partner, Nell Clark. The two traveled to see over 40 different concerts in a span of 4 years, including, Jazz Fest in NOLA, Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Los Angeles, Paul McCarthy, ZZ Top / Lynard Skynard, The Who, Rolling Stones and Little Feat Festival in Key West.  Pat was very passionate about music, he loved all types of music and always had a song in his head. Along with traveling with Nell Clark to view concerts, his top favorite bands were The Beatles and Led Zepplin.

Pat was a dedicated and loving family man. He adored his children Murphy and Kelley. His world revolved around their happiness.  He was incredibly proud of his son, Murphy, and all his career accomplishments and of his daughter, Kelley, for all of her successes and skillful glassblowing artwork.  He was incredibly proud of his son Murphy and all his accomplishments and beamed with pride when he talked about his children. Pat also really adored and loved his children's significant others, Emily Hernandez and Derik Emroe. Pat always joked with Emily and Murphy about how he could not wait for their weddings and grandchildren. Pat also loved his dog Heidi, a big German Shepard who seemed to love no one except for Pat, they had a special bond. Daughter, Kelley McCabe will be taking Heidi home with her to Oregon to keep Heidi in the family.

Pat lived for trips to the beach. Along with his decade living in Maui, Hawaii for work and pleasure, every chance he could, he would run to the beach to sit in the sand and soak in the sun. On the last large family vacation, the McCabe family went to St. Augustine for a week staying in a house on the beach all together. Pat, Nell, Murphy, Emily, Kelley, and Derik all had a wonderful week in the sun together and toured around St. Augustine's historical landmarks.

Pat was a big fan of history and a museum buff. His whole life he was intrigued by historical events and people. He often bought books or watched documentaries on American history and would read them through. He would also travel to unique locations that had major historical events occur, including the Mexican pyramids, WW2 Navy Ships and fighter jets, St. Augustine Fountain of Youth, and many more.  Pat was also a movie fanatic. Name a quote from any movie and the odds are, Pat knew it! His favorites were the James Bond series which he would watch with his children.

Pat had a bit of a fun wild side and would cruise around on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle around town. His son, Murphy, now has the motorcycle and enjoys his joy rides too. On top of this, Pat was a huge sports fan and attended many Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers games with his friends and family. Often taking Murphy out of school to attend a fun baseball game as a father-son day surprise. The family would also go every Thanksgiving for the past 4 years to the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving game with Nell Clark.

Pat was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Gene Murphy McCabe and his sister, Elaine McCabe.  He is survived by his son, Patrick Murphy McCabe, Jr. (Emily Hernandez); daughter, Kelly Christine McCabe (Derik Emroe); life partner & significant other, Mary Nell Clark; sister, Gay Johnson; brother, Tim McCabe and the mother of his children, Rachael McCabe.
