Patricia Ann Shaw

Patricia Ann Bromell Shaw, better known to her friends and family as Patsy, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Bossier City, Louisiana. The family will receive friends Friday, September 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside in Shreveport. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation with Pastor Dennis Aaron officiating.

Patsy was born November 4, 1941, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Horace and Ruth Bromell. She graduated from Fair Park High School in 1959 and married Max Eugene Shaw, Sr. shortly after graduation. She and Max enjoyed 58 years of marriage prior to Max’s death in 2017.

Patsy attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport and was a faithful member there until her health prevented her from attending. She enjoyed her Sunday School class and loved her church family.

Patsy had several jobs throughout her life but the one she most enjoyed was driving a school bus for the Caddo Parish School Board. She spent many years lovingly serving the students at Judson Elementary School. She always made sure to celebrate the students who rode her bus by giving them gifts on special occasions and by always being an encouraging face to them each time they got on and off the bus. She truly loved what she did and she considered it a blessing to be able to drive those children each day.

Patsy’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She loved her sons and she was the mom who always took them camping and fishing, who spent summers at the lake with them and their friends boating and skiing, and who was their greatest supporter in whatever activities in which they were participating. She loved family time and was always excited to invite her family to her house for holidays and a good meal. When her three granddaughters were born, the title of Grandmother was one she wore with pride. She took them to do all the things their parents wouldn’t and they loved her dearly.

Patsy is preceded in death by her husband, Max Eugene Shaw, Sr., her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Jean Bromell Smith and husband, Wayne, and her brothers, Larry Bromell and Terry Bromell.

She is survived by her sons, Lonnie Shaw and wife, Kelli, and Max Shaw, Jr. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Caroline Shaw Colvin and husband, Cameron, Catherine Shaw Jordan and husband, Jack, and Mary Claire Shaw Goudeau and husband, Chandler, along with three great- granddaughters, Collins Colvin, Anna Cate Colvin, and Mary Eloise Jordan. She also leaves behind a very special nephew, Tracy Smith and wife, Emily and their three daughters, Katie and fiance' Peyton Grantham, Maddie, and Meghan. She is survived by her nieces, nephews, and her sister-in-law, Rosy Williams Bromell.

The family would like to thank Hand in Hand Hospice for everything they did for Patsy the past two months. Their care of her was above and beyond and, we will forever be thankful for them.

Patsy spent the last few years of her life battling Alzheimer’s and spent the past two months in memory care at Brookdale Assisted Living in Bossier City. There are no words to describe how grateful we as a family are to every employee of this facility. The caregivers, staff, and nurses, were always kind, encouraging, and willing to help her in any way they could. Our family is so thankful for each person at Brookdale for what was done for her while she lived there.
