Patricia Ann McKinney Pendergrass
Patricia Ann McKinney Pendergrass moved from her earthly home to eternity with her Lord and Savior on February 23, 2026. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, from 9-11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Minden. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Leland Crawford officiating. A private interment will be held at Minden Cemetery.
Patty was born June 11, 1954, the first child of George David McKinney and Jo Ann Bryan McKinney. Following graduation from Louisiana Tech University, she served her country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force from 1976-1980, retiring at the rank of Captain. Patty lived the majority of her life in Minden, where she was deeply involved in community service and in all areas of First Baptist Church. For many years, Patty was a fourth- through sixth-grade social studies teacher at Glenbrook School.
Patty was an amazing person - capable, conscientious, and compassionate. Whatever she involved herself in she did so fully engaged, with intent, and with an unwavering commitment to excellence. Patty had three great loves: the love for Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior, the love for her family, and the love for her hometown of Minden.
Patty’s life was marked with a sober and serious persistence and determination, which she inherited from her maternal grandmother, Elsie Bryan (Mama Bryan). Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 24, Patty never let the disease defeat or define her. She was certainly a force to be reckoned with. Patty was a warrior in every sense to the very end. Her determination has served to inspire many people.
Patty is proceeded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Sara Elsie Stephens Bryan and Edgar Earl Bryan; and a special cousin, Nina Holomon Archer.
Patty is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ty, and their three sons: Tristan (Kristel) of Searcy, AR; Jeremy (Emery) of Ruston, LA; and Andy (Polly) of Minden, LA; seven grandchildren: Luke Tyrus Pendergrass, Lillian Jane Pendergrass, Jacob Lane Pendergrass, Calvin Tyrus Pendergrass, Alfred Thomas Pendergrass, Josie Claire Pendergrass, and Davy Grace Pendergrass.
Patty is also survived by sister Kim McKinney Bickham (husband Bruce) and children Clint and Alex; sister Jody Frances McKinney Baker and children Abigail Baker and Anna Baker Pennell; and a host of family and friends.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to her friend and physician, Dr. Christopher Earnhardt, and Dr. Thomas Pressley, her rheumatologist for the past 38 years whom she saw every six weeks.
In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest any donations be made to the following: First Baptist Church of Minden Youth Ministry, Project Reclaim of Minden, United Christian Assistance Program (UCAP), and Phillip’s Cottage.
