Otis Whitfield Wilkes, Sr.

Mooringsport, LA - Otis Whitfield Wilkes, Sr., age 67, loving husband and father of four passed away at his home in Mooringsport, LA on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Otis was born September 30, 1952 in Shreveport, LA to Allen Homer and Etta Marie (Walley) Wilkes. He married Yulandi Pape on December 29, 2013. They shared six years of love, caring for their many fur babies and enjoying his love of music together. Otis enjoyed spending time with his family and pets. He was a mechanic, carpenter, hunter, driver and oilfield service technician. He wore many hats but his greatest enjoyment was found in music. He shared his love of classic rock with his kids and friends. He was a gifted musician who enjoyed playing guitar and recorded several arrangements over the years. Otis spent much of the last several years watching and supporting many local artists and bands every chance he got. The mutual love and respect is truly a gift to anyone who witnessed it. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Homer Wilkes and Etta Marie Wilkes; his son, James Adam Wilkes; son-in-law, Douglas Gene Smith and sisters, Geraldine Peters and Jaunice Wilkes. He is survived by his wife, Yulandi; three children, Cindy Smith, Kenneth Wilkes and Otis Wilkes, Jr. (O.J.); daughter-in-law, Jennifer Wilkes; brothers, Mack and Ralph Wilkes; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Rose-Neath\'s Bossier Chapel, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111. Officiating will be Reverend Ronnie Watson.
